Pakistani Batsman Shan Masood Suffered A Head Injury During Practice Session In Melbourne
The bad news is coming from the Pakistani camp ahead of the big match between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup on Sunday. His number three batsman Shan Masood suffered a head injury during practice, due to which he was taken to the hospital.
According to media reports, a ball from Mohammad Nawaz hit Masood’s head during practice. He fell down there. After which he was taken to the hospital. However, no official statement has been made about his status yet.
Shan Masood: 39 runs in 22 balls against England in a warm-up match
Pakistan has to play a match against India in Super-12 on 23 October. Masood scored 39 runs in 22 balls with the help of 7 fours in the warm-up match against England. Pakistan’s regular openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan did not play in this match.
In such a situation, the captain gave Masood a chance to practice. Masood has so far scored 220 runs in 12 matches played in internationals at an average of 24.44. His strike rate is 125.
Fakhar Zaman and Haider Ali may be included in the playing XI
According to the ICC rules, he will have to go through the concussion procedure after a head injury. If the doctors feel that he needs rest, he will not be a part of the playing XI against India. In his place, Fakhar Zaman, who was recently included in Pakistan’s 15 squads, can get a chance in the playing XI.
Fakhar Zaman’s claim is also strong because Asif Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed are not able to do anything special in the middle order. On the other hand, Haider Ali can also be an option for Pakistan. He played a key role in the team’s victory in the final of the Triangle series against New Zealand earlier this month.
What happens in the concussion process
After a head injury, the player is checked whether the player’s mental balance is fine or not. The player’s memory is also tested, for which some questions are asked – such as the name of the city and some other questions. Also, the player is given something to read. It remains to be seen whether he was normal during all these procedures. Only after that, was a further decision taken.
