Sanju Samson May Be The Vice-Captain of Team India For The South Africa ODI Series
Young Kerala batsman Sanju Samson may be made the vice-captain of the Indian team for the ODI series against South Africa starting on October 6. Sources in the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) have given this information. One-day matches will be played between India and South Africa in Lucknow on 6 October, Ranchi on 9 October, and Delhi on 11 October.
Before this, a series of three T20 International matches are to be played between the two teams from 28 September. Samson is not a part of the T20 team. Also, he was not included in Team India for the T20 World Cup starting in Australia next month. The young star, who performed brilliantly in IPL-2022, can also get a chance for the ODI series.

Why is BCCI suddenly being kind to Sanju?
Most of the players selected for the T20 World Cup can be rested from the ODI series against South Africa. These will also include captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain KL Rahul. In such a situation, Shikhar Dhawan can be made the captain of the team and Sanju Samson can be made the vice-captain. Sanju led India-A to a 3-0 win over New Zealand-A in the unofficial ODI series under his captaincy.
Sanju has been able to play only 7 ODIs in 14 months
Sanju Samson made his ODI debut on 23 July 2021 against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Since then, he has got a chance to play only 7 ODIs. In these seven matches, he has scored 176 runs at an average of 44. His strike rate is 101.14.
There was a lot of criticism from the BCCI selectors for not selecting Sanju in the T20 World Cup squad. Sanju has played 16 T20 Internationals so far. In this, he has scored 296 runs at an average of 21.14.
